In 1986, Sylvia Prole and her husband Peter had the vision to establish a premier Boarding Cattery in Newark on Trent dedicated just for Cats, on the edge of their woodland area. Located on the southerly facing side of Beacon hill, South Lodge offers shade from the sun in summer and shelter from the elements in winter, providing a quiet and peaceful environment for your cat's stay in warm and secure individual units each with their own roomy exercise areas.
Karen and David Roberts purchased South Lodge Boarding Cattery in 2006 and have subsequently continued to develop the facilities by upgrading the chalets, increasing the excercise areas and installing heating as well as heated beds
Karen, who takes responsibility for the day to day management and care of our guests, registered the Cattery with the Companion Veterinary Clinic, who have guided Karen in the correct procedures particularly in the handling of cats who may sometimes be nervous with strangers, how to administer medication correctly, etc.
In order to have a stress-free experience at South Lodge Boarding Cattery it is important for your Cat to feel at ease with Karen who always takes time to get to know her guests when ready, on their terms, with cuddles and a few treats (if allowed) as a sign of friendship.
All necessary equipment is supplied including clean bedding, but we do recommend bringing favourite toys or a comfort blanket with familiar aromas to help them settle in.
We fully appreciate the need for continuity in your cat's daily feeding routine and cater for dietary needs by stocking most proprietry brands, also for special diets such as for overweight or food sensitive cats, as well as for kittens and older cats.
We do like our guests to feel at home and be comfortable during their stay.
